Community Based

Laura leading a workshop for the Brownies

At Lore & Piece, we are proud of our wonderful diverse community of users, and truly believe in the power of community archaeology.

Community-led workshops

We currently have seven community-based workshops available, and these all utilise artefacts of the local area; from commissioned archaeological excavations, to metal-detecting finds. These are tailored for three different groups: Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, and Key Stage 3, where their content and structure varies slightly to best suit the age ranges of the participants. Please note that while landscape and artefacts are the primary teaching resources, the post-Roman workshops may also include references to historical documents, while the prehistoric workshops often celebrate Experiential/Experimental archaeology!

Talk-workshops

Lore & Piece also offers talk-workshops: these are aimed at those aged 14+, and these involve a short talk (30-45 minutes), followed by a discussion, and closing with a hands-on activity. The content of every workshop is tailored to the specific area in which it is hosted wherever possible. Lore & Piece are also available to deliver the below workshops in schools.
